This recording is a cover of the original 1964 release by Ben E. King. Listen to a clip on Amazon of the mp3 track (from King's Seven Letters CD) and you'll find the arrangements are the same.
Ben E. King, best known for his biggest hit "Stand By Me", has been singing professionally since 1958, was a lead singer for The Drifters before going solo in 1960, and toured the UK in 2011. He is also active in the non-profit Stand By Me Foundation and the Global Village Champions Foundation.

Hi Proby, This is Mick. Shanon's Father. I haven't spoken to you in a long time. I moved to Vegas for a while but I've been back to Monterey for a number of years. I lost touch with you in England. If you could please get back in touch with me through my friends E-Mail. It is : saschag50@gmail.com. Would love to hear from you soon. Mick.

Now that sound is the start of grunge. What Mod! This is incredible! KILLER! Too bad his moves are so animated! But it's funny!

LOL, yes, but this was 1965 and the prissy ballroom steps from the Four Blacky Tops were just as funny, mate!
A pity Proby playbacks here. It's an unusual, and unusual aggressive song in relation to what was the vogue in those days. It seems related to swamp, but in 1965 we never heard of it and Tony Joe White and Elvis 'Poke Salad Annie' came only later.
