The current increase in the immigrant population has resulted in a greater number of students whose first language is not English. In most situations it may no longer be feasible for these students to be the exclusive responsibility of ESL teachers. All teachers must now understand how to work with ESL students. This program starts by simulating what it is like for the ESL learner to sit in your classroom. Feel for yourself how confusing the classroom can be for these students. See first hand how to modify your classroom so that specific ESL instructional strategies can be successfully implemented. Spend several hours observing how highly successful ESL teachers connect with every student in the classroom. This program makes extensive use of classroom observation video to show you the most effective ways to teach all ESL learners — regardless of their native language.
This is a great video because it highlights how important nonverbal communication is with ELLs. All the students in the class can understand the function of a shutter, whether or not they know the word in English. As they are the taught the word and its function in English, they can connect the meaning with the function in their brain which will make it easier to understand and comprehend.

Great video on how to use different strategies including hand movements to go along with words. Simple strategies such as that can enhance the students learning.
