The Park Slope Food Coop is a member-owned grocery store in Brooklyn, NY. The store offers a variety of produce and household goods only for members at a 21% markup (Compared to 30-100% at a supermarket.) One of the requirements for a member is to work at the store two hours and forty five minutes every four weeks. This labor contribution minimizes the personal cost of the store, and makes the food affordable to its members.
This is the second segment in a five-part series of video journals. This episode focuses on one of the important element of this co-op: Work Contribution.
