WTF PS While I say you are a little out there Ian. I have no shame in saying so am I. Maybe walking in a different direction but I'm not trying to exclude you from the herd. I'm not in the herd either.
And he butted in front of all the other students in the process? As you said, where are their Free Speech rights? Tromped over by Andrew Meyer apparently.
Andrew Meyer took away every attendee's chance to speak when he seized control of the microphone. If you believe in free speech you'd respect the format of the question and answer session. He clearly did not.
Meyer escalated the situation to the point where he got himself arrested, by attempting to incite the crowd and shouting at the top of his lungs. That became Disorderly Conduct. Then, he attempted to resist arrest, and he was charged with that, as well. If he would have just walked out with the officers, then none of this would have happened.
boddah92108, Meyer was ejected for the "blowjob" comment, which the University deemed to be inappropriate language in front of a US Senator. It's their University, their Forum, so it is their rules. I do agree with you in that he should have been "asked" to leave the premises, if they decided they wanted him ejected, before they physically escorted him out. However, he wasn't being arrested originally. He was just being escorted out of the building.
An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in
repelling any other assault and battery." State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260
"Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer's life if necessary." Plummer v. State, 136 Ind. 306."
