Does your dog show little interest in his frisbee, tennis balls or toys? Well you're in luck, because in this video, we'll show you what you can do to get your dog to LOVE whatever it is that you want him to love.
Dogs have preferences just like people do, so if we want them to like something, we have to convince them that it's safe, fun and interesting. It's kind of like convincing your husband that washing dishes is the best sport ever! Oh and if any of you have figured out how to accomplish that feat, then please let me know. ;)
Sara is 10 years old and doesn't enjoy playing with her toys anymore. Since she's older and overweight, I am trying to get her to be more playful and active again.
Oh and before I get hate mail about how obese she is....yes, I know. I'm aware of her weight problem and I am very concerned about it, which is why I've become a food nazi and monitor her diet very closely.
Even though I tell you to use treats for this exercise, I'm really using Evo's Weight Loss Formula kibble and Orijin because Sara really enjoys it. She's willing to work for it so I use them as treats when working with her. In other words - Sara works for her food.

thanks the deaf dog is in one of my videos and im trying to train him not to bark at the ball

@gimptech2009 Here's what I would do in that situation. I would start off by training the dog in a place with out any distractions whatsoever. Probably a room in my house. I would put a ball down and when he was barking, I would ignore it. When he is quite, I would treat him. Then once he got to the point where the ball had no effect, I would roll it gently. Again, when he's quite and doesn't bark, he gets a reward. Once he gets that down, I would take the training outside.

@gimptech2009 That's an excellent question! With deaf doggies, you obviously wouldn't use a clicker, so you reward with a treat only. Use specific hand signals in place of verbal cues. :)
