Heading eastbound from Warden to Kennedy stations, after 35 years serving the Bloor-Danforth line, this was the final day of revenue service for the TTC's oldest H4 subway cars, the final remaining H4 subway cars were officially decomissioned at Kennedy station just after 9:30 a.m. on January 27, 2012. You can hear the operator saying that "Good morning, ladies and gentleman as most of our people know that upon arrival at Kennedy station, this train will be out of service and decommissioned".

  • Our oldest fleet (nyc subway) are over 45 years old and are still in service. Type in "R32 train" if you'd like to see. NTM in 2006 we had 11 different types of trains in service, thou as of right we have 7.

  • @shmackedson We have 4 different types of train models currently in-service on Toronto's subway system, such as the H5, H6, T1, and the newest model, Toronto Rocket.

This was the final day of service for the TTC's very last of the oldest subway model, known as the H4, which had no air-conditioning and were equipped with orange-padded seats, the last six cars/train was decommissioned after the morning rush winded down on January 27, 2012

  • @AlexRampaul Just to note that the Toronto Rockets are the first subway cars in North America to feature a six-car fixed open concept with articulated gangways, allowing passengers to walk from one end to the other.

  • @AlexRampaul I film rides and quickie videos silently without anyone hearing your yap. @ttc2353 is right, you've spoiled everyone's moment but the last day of Fishbowls on December 16, 2011 is not a coincidence without you not part of that moment. I agree with @ttcsubwayfan, @ShinyServine, @TTC2755 (if you there), and @ttcgeek, you nearly have everyone bad luck and Andrew Crawford (Articulated) was interviewed by the Star because you've destroyed everyone's transit fanning experiences. I worked

  • @sunhasfallen I did inform some unwitting passengers on the H4's final day of service and it was on the news as well.

  • @TTCOrionVII8100 Trust me, its such a pain in ass to even catch a ride back then.

  • You @AlexRumpul could STFU yo mouth!! Were pissed off about your loudness! So zip it or well tape it. Done.

Sorry I didn't make it to my ride @TTC2755 @ttc2353 @ttcgeek @TTC1700 @downsview34 @ShinyServine, you guys can thank me by riding #5656 last June :'(

  • @ttcsubwayfan Yes, I have that video posted on my YouTube channel, where a TTC employee was making the announcement regarding the H-4's final day of service as it entered Kennedy station.

  • @AlexRampaul And if the commuters didn't want to know? The driver made an announcement about it just before the train entered the station, and they would have found out then.

Besides, those who actually cared would have cameras or something to take pictures and videos with. The rest of the train didn't.

  • I'm inclined to agree with everyone else's comments. There's a fine line between enjoying something and enjoying it while ruining it for others. I'm glad I rode on H4s more than once, so I have plenty of recordings of their sounds, but it sucks that you had to kill my last videos of them.
