@Audinos As I understand cultural architecture, bells were originally placed in the spires of European churches, for the purpose of telling time and calling the faithful to Mass and Assembly, as clocks were both novelty and expensive for commoners.
After the mid 19th Century, when the Latter-day Saints moved west, only a few small meeting houses in smaller communities were graced with bells. Clocks had become commonplace, and the need for a communal timepiece was obviated.

@frarozu This is the Conference Center organ. It's not the original Aelolean in the Tabernacle.

As a Catholic who has always admired the beauty of Mormon hymnody and their fine organs, I have to ask: apart from the Nauvoo Bell at Temple Square, why is it that LDS churches and temples do not have or use bells?

I have the CD. It is the Tabernacle organ and the Nauvoo bell is just south and west of the Tabernacle. Great recording.
