This is a 72 gallon bowfront aquarium with about 20 african cichlids. I've had it for 2 years and have had a few mixed african cichlid tanks over the years. As far as heirarchy, I'd say the Afra and larger Tropheus trade spots. the Frontosa is the largest at about 5 inches but is pretty mellow. This tank contains 1 six stripe Frontosa, 1 Red Empress, 1 Johanni, 2 Acei, 2 Yellow Labs, 2 pseudotropheus (blue and an orange), 2 Tropheus, 1 Afra, 1 Calvus, 1 Giraffe, 1 Brichardi, 3 juvenille Melanochromis Auratus, plus a couple more.

  • whats the name of the black and yellow fish and the name of the fish that is blue with yellow fins?

  • @Diegovaiasuso The black cichlid with yellow stripe is a Ikola Tropheus and the purple fish with the yellow band is an Acei. I have two in this tank and the larger one is now about 7".

  • @chiraglyf I would only stick to African cichlids in the tank. Neons look great but they have a different freshwater makeup including a lower ph.

  • @brucierioch The Tropheus is a more aggressive fish but I have had peacocks that are even more aggressive. A larger Tropheus to add to your tank may curb aggression from your Demasoni and over time the Tropheus will be higher in the pecking order. I have a Demasoni in this tank these days and it is not afraid of anybody but usually only picks on juveniles his size.

  • Gorgeous tank. And I love your taste in music :)

Btw what kind of rocks are those?

  • @Pakman12344 I use river rock that I purchased at a local supplier. To decorate this tank only cost about $20 of river rock. I also use coral gravel for the higher PH. Some of the rock dwellers enjoy digging this size gravel out of their caves after a routine cleaning.
