Thousands of New Jersey high school students participated in a walkout today in protest of recent education cuts — all because of a call to action on Facebook.

The event was organized by 18-year-old Michelle Ryan Lauto — a Pace University student who once attended high school in New Jersey. Lauto decided to take action after Governor Chris Christie announced that he would be cutting $820 million in educational funding for next year, according to the Hartford Courant.

Nearly 15,000 students RSVPd Yes via Facebook, but were not sure how many actually participated — still, sources like The Star Ledger report that students from several schools joined in the walkout.

  • Did they Free Joe after all that?

  • OMG! Students took an opportunity to be out of a classroom!!! Not possible! I mean me as a student would never take an opportunity to walk out of a room for something i probably know nothing about... oh. wait. I totally would! one word for this video....Idiots.

  • fuck the unions they always complain and yet they cannot teach you kids that is why so many of you become less educated. they scream and cannot get the job done fire the ones who cannot teach

  • Stupid teachers' unions have used these students as drug mules and spread propaganda that is not true. These students are stupid illiterate bums in Newark and other cities where the corrupt bureaucrats do nothing but feast on the taxpayer pie while many of the students in failing schools do not even graduate.

  • STupid ignorant morons who have been brainwashed and propagandized by their union teacher scum like in Nazi germany.

  • These stupid kids should be docked...

  • my review...

in the introduction, both the words "despite" and "what" are spelled wrong. The first sentence is a run on, and not completed. It says "despite warnings to students" but does not follow up with "to not do this" or anything of the sort. Also, New Jersey is not a nation. So as we can tell from the first 22 seconds, this is clearly a NJ public school student making this clip.

  • At 26 seconds, we learn that they like Nickleback. I don't know which is worse.

I certainly hope that that isn't a "student" that appears in the middle of the frame in a blue jacket at 57 seconds.

  • At 1:16 we remember that everything about that day was illegal, and these students would definitely have benefited from maybe paying attention in school for a day.

1:50 reminds us exactly why they chose a bright and sunny day like April 27th for this walkout; being that it was nice out and no one felt like staying in a school for too long.

I'm almost positive the the sign holder at 2:38 could not care less.

2:48 brings us an undecipherable blurry picture. Thank you pUnKsTaRR.

  • No good sir at 2:57, at this rate, you will not be attendind UCLA.

3:21, the middle of the road is always a good place to protest.

3:40, its time to learn to use your funds and supplies wisely, namely, not by making outrageous statements that no one will take as seriously as your emoticons make it out to be.

And finally we get to 3:51, where a speech bubble which points the wrong way claims that Christie hates teachers, students, and budgets.

Chris Christie is a Knicks fan.
