For the second time since the Norfolk female was killed, the male has delivered a fish and fed the 3 eaglets. Despite the fact he has delivered food the decision has been made to remove the chicks for the nest to assure there best chance
for survival in the wild..
Ed Clark, President of The Wildlife Center of Virginia, shared his opinion. "Everyone needs to keep in mind that the eaglets will triple in size (and appetite) over the next two months. Their food demands wll be enormous, and probably beyond the capacity of a single parent to provide..."

  • My husband doesnt agree with the taking of the babies. He said they would have survived and let nature take its course. I have been crying since 4/27. I might been counseling. Seriously. I havent cried like this over a PERSON,

  • THANK YOU for posting this video. Even though this father eagle has successfully fed the eaglets, these chix wouldve doubled in size before fledge. To think this parent alone could feed the 3 as well as protect them from predators was not feasable. The mama eagle, who iwas 12 yrs old, was hit by an airplane.[ from what i have heard the couple were fishing together....only papa made it.....Twice he fed his babies after the accident.. . .

  • why not help him by providing food rather than remove them? Eagle are great stealers of food from other birds.

  • The mom was hit by an incoming plane while fishing. Dad was there too, but he got out of the way.

  • The mom was hit by a plane.

I thought the dad was doing a good job of taking care of the babies. I don't understand why they took them from the nest, but I guess they know what they are doing.

  • how did the mom die?

  • Thank you so much for sharing.

  • God speed to all involved
