Well, Singles Awareness Day rolled around and I coincidentally found myself listening to this track...hahaha. Anyway, I realized I never learnt the second half (the distorted part) so I took it upon myself to finish what I'd started. It's an awesome song from one of my Top 5 favorite albums of all time, so why not? There's a little bit of something for everyone, clean finger picking, brutal distortion, and of course, my terrible singing, which I hope does not render this completely unbearable. Also threw in a little passage at the end from a movie I saw recently...props if you can name it.

As always, sorry for the mistakes!

  • how long does it take for u to learn this song

  • @samuel9x Not too long..depends on how much time you have to practice? haha. I'd say with the singing and playing together it took like 4-7 days, but honestly I had learnt bits and pieces of the song a long time ago so tat might have helped.

  • what Tuning is Opeth in? Also Do they use 7 strings?

  • @MetalFee666 This particular song is in standard. They use standard and drop-D, and on the Ghost Reveries album I think they used open-D or something. I don't think they've used 7-strings before.

  • @deadnightshinobi What are your top 5 favourite albums of all time? Great cover.

  • @LyricsArFun Wow, top 5 favorite albums of all time is almost impossible... if I had to take a stab at it, I'd say Prowler In The Yard by Pig Destroyer, Liquid Swords by GZA, Blackwater Park by Opeth, Blood Inside by Ulver, and either the Cowboy Bebop or Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks by Yoko Kanno.

  • @m15t4k3n Well considering Opeth play PRS guitars which are just completely gorgeous looking and sounding instruments I can see how you might have gotten that doubt in your head haha. That being said I'm pretty happy with this Jackson, the maple fretboard adds some treble clarity and it has Seymour Duncan humbuckers (most of my other electrics have EMGs which are great for distorted tones but not so great for clean tones). Thanks for watching and for the kind words!

  • @MetalFee666 no, they don't use 7

  • @wasabiusagi not only ghost reveries (except "hours of wealth" song, that is standard E), you can fnd that tuning on "demon of the fall" and "porcelain heart" too...

  • beutiful beautiful yeah!!! toy guitar tsss is a jackson!!! awww its belle!!!

  • From which movie is that song from the end? :D

  • @deadnightshinobi I remember the tuning for Ghost Reveries being D-A-D-F-A-E and this was the only album that they used this tuning...other than that it's been standard or drop-d

  • @deadnightshinobi cool, thx
