Artist's notes:
I'm so glad you're taken the time to watch, or perhaps skip on through, my 2011 Fringe show. Doing a one man show with live music is something I've longed to put together for 7 years. Months and months of writing, rehearsal and preparation went into this show just to do two performances, and I'm so grateful to have one of them captured here on video.
That being said, live is live and there are plenty of faaaaabulous fun little goofs going on from this night's performance. Among them:
* The incomparable Nadya Ginsburg lent her talents for the opening pre-recorded intro, which the audience absolutely loved. Unfortunately for this taped performance we had some sound issues at the very beginning. For the sake of continuity, the intro you hear here was played back through, so there isn't a big audience reaction. Rest assured that they ate it up!!!
* James' leather pants and boots and Toshio's purple mesh shirt were loaned by the amazing people at Passional Boutique in Philadelphia. Unfortunately James forgot to wear a belt, and then pants were a wee bit tight in the waist. (He is THICK, after all!) As such there was a recurring ...um..."situation"...of the button popping open. This isn't the fault of the pants - they're truly fabulous!!!
* Julie didn't actually insist that I read anything verbatim; it was sort of a twist of the tongue from what I meant to say, which was that I didn't want to disrespect her awesome writing by going too far off the page. It's a live show, people, sometimes your mouth moves faster than your brain!
I printed out all of my thank-yous in the show program, but to reiterate some major shout outs here:
