@artdever You are correct - i'm in the same boat... the fingers just don't wanna play guitar for a living even if the heart does!!!
-
@geetarwanabe Ah yes, the old "he's a great guitar player, therefore he must spend an unreasonable amount of time playing" argument, widely recognized as flattery in the form of bitter jealousy.
-
@K1LL14N sorry here he's been playing 2-3 years and he started at 14 and he was born in 1990 so i guess at this current moment in time he's been playing 6 years but on this vid only 2-3 years.
-
wait.. is it Four years in present time, or four years when this video was posted....so my question.. did he start playing since 2002 or 2006? :P
I guess 2002?

excellent.

@maajob Actually he did only play for 4 years here, I read an interview about him and he said he was possessed by the instrument practicing 7hrs during school and 14hrs during the weekend and when he was about 17 he wanted to practice 14hrs a day and so dropped out of sixth form college in order to pursue his dreams.
He only started playing at 14, shows what talent and dedication can do eh?

Gareth pearson is appearing at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff on Sunday 30th May as part of a NEWSOUNDWALES Welsh Showcase.

looks like he plays a lot like tommy emmanuel. tommy tends to anchor his pinky to the guitar when he plays, check out some of his "boom chick" lessons on youtube and it'll kind of explain what this guy is doing here
-
Not sure what some of these ppl below me are talking about. Gareth writes some pretty good stuff as well.
Does anyone know what his right hand technique is? It looks like he's sticking his pinky out.. I'm not familiar with this style but would like to practice it. Any input is appreciated.

You, me, the guy in the video and everyone else will eventually be picked up, placed inside of a box, dropped 6 feet into the earth and forgotten about forever. Until then I (and hopefully as many others as possible that are willing) will be walking above the earth and living, actually making things happen... not spending our time on the internet writing mean spirited and cowardly remarks to each other that only aim to make us more worthy of our eventual and mutual fate.
Dont think you understand the dedication it takes to get this good. Yea if you spent the time you might be able to but does everyone have the will power and the love for the music to do it? No.

geetarwanabe Its not true that anyone who spent enough time could get this good. I have spent more time on guitar than this young man has lived. I am not as good as he is. To get as good as him requires more than time. He has something I can't buy for myself (inate talent).and time won't make up the difference.
