@punkrockplumbob wrong? im not wrong... its a preference. any other methods of sealing is NOT required. It's a compression fit, the nut compresses the washer tight into the joint.

@nightshot103 Liquid Teflon is what it appears like he is using. His drain is bad though because the outlet is higher than the p-trap so he will have terrible drainage!

@nightshot103 yeah don't ask home depot or Lowes for pipe dope they will give you a bottle of rosin for copper pipes. Ask for Plumbers putty. Pipe fitters use the term pipe dope

Now I know why I call a plumber and never attempt it myself. Reminds me of trying to learn maths at school!

and that trap is way too low for that drain.
From a professionals view point that was cobbled up mess.
