This Big Block 402 was another junkyard engine that was choosen to replace a tired stocker in a good friends car. 4 - 0 - Too Much was named for turning out much hotter than the customer originally desired, but the results tuned out better than anyone imagined. Coming out of a 72 Chevelle totally trashed, it was completely torn down and rebuilt using fully prepped racing components. The design, blue printing, assembly, and detailing were done by MS&C, The block, heads and crank were machined by Mikes Performance of Las Cruces NM. At first This engine seems kinda radical, but after installation it makes solid power on premium, running slightly cold @ 175* - 180* in 90* degree weather. Idling around 900rpm, the balance work shines with a smooth feeling engine and a choppy sounding idle. The engine has great street manners and could easily be used as a daily driver to work. With some timing work, I think it could easily be run on regular pump and not have any detonation issues. Check It Out! And tell us what YOU think! • So sick!!!

  • bad ass

  • that's a sweet sounding engine. i've got a 402 out of a 71 chevy truck in my 84 chevy 3/4 ton. its pretty strong. and its a very smooth engine, but nothing like what you've got there. nice job. i live in cruces myself.

  • thats beastly i got a 350ci in my 1968 chevy c10 id like to build it up in the next few years

  • thats one sick ass sounding 396

did that thing just tach 14500 rpm or so? it SCREAMS!

    i love it!

  • Junkyard engine? That's cool. I wonder how much money it would take to build a early eighties 4x4 S10 regular cab from a mix of new and used parts. I wish I could build my own S10 like that over a period of years until complete from the frame up. No fancy fast engine just stock stuff. In fact it would be cool to somehow connect the 2.5 iron duke 4 cyl to the trans/transfer case for MPG. Hell spray paint it as fancy as possible ha ha that would be a fun project.
