@conn6m 3. I think all thoes people out there who are watching all these Bebop scale videos (and there is a lot of them; all giving the same boring unhelpfull message taken straight out of David Bakers book without any imagination) would be better off studying the actual musical source.- like all the greats musicians of the past have done, including bird himself.

@conn6m 2. If you have the aebersold Charlie Parker Omnibook this is page 15 stave 12 beat 3. Only by looking at Bebop scales as the upper harmonics of the chords can that be explained. Notice also how Parker is using scale substitution and follows this note by going into F harmonic minor (C is chord 5 of F harmonic minor) and resolving beautifully on the E of C7 by using an enclosure. This solo is a great learning ground for Bebop study. There are many beautifull and unusual things happening.

There is a guitar player on You tube called Jazzguitarlessonsnet who put on a video called Bebop scales Demysified. In that video he says that the added notes in Bebop (ie a G# on a C major scale used over a C maj chord) are purely rhythmic. When I pointed out that this is not the case (see my video How David Bakers bebop scales come about) he deleted and blocked me. THIS SONG PROVES I WAS RIGHT. Listen to Parkers solo at bar 7 of A2 at 1m 14s Parker is playing G# on the beat over a C maj chord.
