"I never believed you. I only wanted to, before all of this...." The pair of serene sky-blue eyes bounced away from the few scribbles written on the white music sheet out into the clear view of the empty tables and chairs around the deserted bar. "Hmmm-Mhmh" The voice that belonged to the man at the piano hummed softly to the tune of the playing keys but quickly came to a short stop, running a frustrated hand through his brown lustrous hair.

"Having trouble?" Emma's sweet distinctive voice called out in her famous English accent, her small reassuring smile eliminated brightly in the dim bar from where she stood behind the counter.

"Just a tad," He replied lowly, his piercing eyes never leaving the black and white keys in hope something would trigger his inspiration. "I'm not very good at emotional songs." He added after he sensed her watching him.

"Isn't that what musicians do though?" Her red stained lips pursed into a thin line. "Write about what they feel, what they're going through? Isn't that the greatest key to writing an amazing song?" Emma propped herself onto the marble counter and swung her leg over, landing on the wooden floors with a soft thump. "Tell me, when's the last time you had ... better yet when was the last time you LOVED someone?"

The man sat on the stool, with his back hunched over the piano's keys. The circular light from the ceiling shined down on him, making his brown hair even lighter than it was. He looked over at the questioning girl then slowly said "Annabel ... she passed away through when we were in high school."

"Logan, I'm so sorry," Emma bellowed quietly. "You've never told me about her...."

"You never asked -- until now." He shrugged casually; he regained his posture and straightened his back as his fingers already started to play her favorite melody. "She loved it, when I played this for her."

"It's beautiful, you're always playing that." She studied her best friend carefully as he continued to hit the keys. "What was she like? If you don't mind me asking." She watched as he slowly shook his head, ignoring her, he continued to play.

"You're still up on that thing?" A disapproving voice boomed loudly from the entrance as the walls shook from the impact of the door being slammed to its door frame. "Listen Lerman, if you can't give me that new song, you might as well start on seeing your way out and leaving my bartenders to do their jobs or they'll lose employment as well."

"Jack, it wasn't his fault. I was just curious." Emma explained non-chatly as she walked around the tables and back to the bar. In a lower voice she said "Take it easy on him."

"I will, as soon as that song is finished for the show." Jack answered in the same level as hers. He pushed past the small brunette and flopped into the candy red booths. "Show me what you have so far, Logan." He motioned his hand at the keys and waited for the bar to be filled with the soft tune he had heard from outside the door.

Logan quickly licked his lips, and set his fingers upon the familiar piano keys. Once again, he felt Emma's warm orbs on him. "I don't have anything yet." He finally spoke; his hands fell desperately at his sides. Logan took a breath before he looked out at the disappointed expressions of his best friend and his boss.

"Lerman, look boy ... you have talent but at the rate you are going right now with the no song writing, you won't get far. Mia has already given me a warning and if you don't come up with that song for the Valentine's Day concert well I'm afraid she will have me let you go."

"I guess I should start gathering my things then and stop wasting your time." Logan bitterly commented as he stood from the stool and walked over to his guitar case. "I'm done with music; I should just stop kidding myself" He snatched his jacket from the coat holder and began his way out.

"Give me a second." Emma called over her shoulder to Jack before she went full speed to chase after Logan. "Hey, Logan! Hey! Logan wait!" She shouted as she trailed behind him down the street where strangers were watching them in confusion. "Lerman will you wait please!" Emma gripped his arm and yanked him back. "What do you mean you're done with music, Logan you love music. You can't just give it up that easily"
