Sander Beck continues to make his case as being one of the top pitchers in the Northwoods League as he lowered his ERA to 0.53 and picked up his third win, 9-1 over the Duluth Huskies.
The Maryland product threw 8.0 innings of three-hit ball in the game and did not allow a run. The score would be knotted up at 0-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning when Alexandria's Derek Mattea (John A Logan) would smoke a double off the left field wall to score Tim Roberson (FGCU) and Will Miller (Furman). The Beetles would never relinquish the lead as they added three runs in the 7th and four more in the third to make it a 9-0 ball game going into the top of the 9th.
Duluth would break the shutout up with a solo homer by Austin Gaines (FGCU) off of Beetles reliever Wes Rich (Montevallo).
