Response to the "Who Killed Vincent Chin?" documentary

After watching the documentary, "Who Killed Vincent Chin", I recorded this video to voice my opinions and feelings toward this documentary. In this entry I dwell slightly on the portrayal of Ron Ebens and the negative spin that he helps put on the Vincent Chin case through his eyes.

he beat him to death with a baseball bat....what more negative light can be shined on the murderer? there is no justification for such an act nor level of sympathy that can be justified for such a person. i have no idea what your point is because it makes no sense.

@jabberwock11: Chin did NOT instigate the fight! Get your facts straight! He was at a bar with friends when Ebens and his stepson decided to hurl insults at him, and one of them said "It's because motherf***ers like you that we're out of work" (they had been let go from their autoworker jobs in Detroit). After a scuffle, Chin left and Ebens went in SEARCH of him for 30 minutes! He found him outside a McDonalds and that is where he brutally killed him. It was TOTALLY a hate crime!!

I just saw the documentary today. True, it seems that China instigated the fight and I'm not sure if it was racially motivated either.. but the two things that get me the most is that Ebens seemed unapologetic. Even if the movie tried to depict him in a bad light, there was nothing in his attitude and tone that hinted regret or sorrow for taking another's life. And also, I think this was an utter shameful outcome on the judicial system's part.

I hope Ebens dies a fucking horrible death btw

Years ago I saw a news story on this. Soon after a Chinese guy at my work asked me to sign a petition related to it. I refused to sign it. Why? According to the news story Chin more or less instigated the fight by initiating the verbal insults and then throwing the first punch. That doesn't mean he deserved to die but on the other hand I never saw this as the hate crime it was made out to be.

The thing I always consider when watching a "documentary" is what did you NOT see. It's good to hear different insights, regardless of the position one takes. "The relentless pursuit of the truth"
