Piano piece by George Gershwin. There are a few differences from the Grade 8 version + there was a repeat I didn't do, but my Canon HF100 is playing up a bit and needs attention.

Logic videos + thoughts on the Apple keynote to follow.

  • I'll be passing the URL on to a pupil of mine. Thanks a lot for the sensitive playing. Nice sound too.

  • @MrTenonSaw

Many thanks - also for your subscription. Your videos are very informative and cleverly thought out. I'll enjoy watching more soon :-)

  • great playing and wonderful expressions! :)

  • @Duckyizzy Thanks :-)

  • Stunning work/play. Gershwin such a treasure trove of harmonies that came out of that guys head. Or he was the best adaptive thief in the world. (Hindemith, Ravel) No matter your playing is something to aspire to.

  • @inspiredkk Many thanks my friend.

My knowledge of musical history is not nearly as good as it should be so I had to do a bit of background reserch using Wiki lol - but there were some quotes I remember now, such as Ravel's quote 'Why be a second rate Ravel when you can be a first rate Gershwin' or something like that. I also used to listen to a lot of Ravels music as a teenager. Sometime I'll get to listen to more Hindemith as well.

  • @uranus2001 Thanks. I deliberately strayed away from the grade 8 version in a few notes as there are several versions of this piece.

I'm certainly looking forward to hearing you playing this. You have a remarkable talent - certainly at 10. I'm sure you will do very well in your grade 8 exam.

  • That was great! :)

  • @Fruitep Cheers for the great comment & rating m8. Peace.

  • You don't often hear keyboards being played this well very well i must say
