@MrJBFan22 I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion. The problem last year was that the harder compounds were SO much slower that you couldn't run longer on them - you'd lose more time than running softer tyres AND the associated extra pitstops. Bringing the compounds closer will mean there will be more of a balance. It will be possible to run a harder tyre thats only losing you 30 seconds or so over a stint. If thats the case, we'll see a lot more variation in strategy.
But its not going to encourage different strategies!, because the compounds are all closer in performance now, all of the teams bar the back of the grid, will now run the SAME strategy as there is nothing to gain by taking a risk. I was so excited about Pirelli last year, the whole point of them taking over from Bridgestone was to give F1 something new. Yet as the season went on, and now with these new tyres it's pretty much back to the same as what Bridgestone gave us, so what was the point!?!?
