  • In Genesis 1:6-7, the term “expanse” (without “of the heavens” added) was referring to the earth's crust. Water (oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, vapor, clouds, and rain) were above this crust. Liquid, solid or gaseous state (subterranean) waters were below (beneath) the crust of the earth (subterranean interstitial, fissure, and karst). The solid ground rose up and is located between the waters below and the waters above. I do not adhere to the “canopy theory”. Thanks for visiting my channel. Brum

  • Let the Light come to be: and light came to be in Gen. 1:3 is not the sun and moon. This is when He made Yashayah our Savior. He is the LIGHT the WORLD. Sun and moon are in Gen. 1:16.

  • @mattandpatti222 Jesus is God incarnate and always existed. John 1: 1-3 In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God. 2 He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him (Jesus), and without Him (Jesus) nothing was made that was made. John 10:30 I and the Father are one.” Jesus said that He is eternal: John 8:57-58 "I tell you the truth,' Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I am!"

  • @mattandpatti222 Genesis 1:3 is not a referral to Jesus. Here are two of the scriptures referring to Jesus as a spiritual “light” unto men:

John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 1:5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (This is not referring to physical darkness, but of spiritual darkness of men)

  • So what do you think the bible means when taking about the firmament between the 2 waters, the ocean, the sky, and what is the waters above the firmament?

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (January 8, The Baptism of Our Lord), this was the Old Testament Lesson of the Day.

  • The word “heaven” written in the Bible is synonymous with the scientific word “space.”

The word “earth” written in the Bible is synonymous with the scientific word “mass.”

The word “light” written in the Bible is synonymous with the scientific word “energy.”

    Am I correct?

  • the mystery of who we are why we are and where we are going is truly fascinating whether you believe in god or not you have to admit the more we discover by science the closer the story of the bible comes .fascinating

  • @FknHectic it seems I can't find the little icon to vote up your comment, I'll just say RIGHT ON!

  • All answers are located in His book, everything we need for salvation and eternal life is located inside its pages.Genesis 1:1 "In the begining God created the Heaven and the Earth" Had he not explained how he did what he did,we would all be questioning that. This almighty creator and sustainer of life took dust of the earth and "Breathed into it the breath of life and man became a living soul" Why question anything that God says? Your wasting time, its much easier to accept + START BELIEVING!
