Kibaki has cracked the whip less than 24 hours after NTV revealed embarrassing details of the cemetery cash scandal. The president has now interdicted the permanent secretary in the ministry of local government, Sammy Kirui, together with 12 other senior officials implicated in the scam.
The statement from state house also directed that nearly 300 million shillings lost in the scam, be recovered from the beneficiaries. But as NTVs Robert Nagila reports, the loss for the city council may be far greater than earlier thought.

  • @Samantha73: thanks for that...just imagine where will the 40 Million+ be buried within the next 50-100 years? reality is we only have a certain amount of land lets use it productively!

  • yes! Siasabora... it's a appealing alternative!!. no caskets! or waste of land! cremation will help save money and time!

  • The govt should not just interdict thieves and let them enjoy their ill gotten wealth. They should be prosecuted and if found guilty their properties should be taken over by the govt. This is the only way that can end corruption in Kenya.

  • i feel like media houses shoud be given power by kenyan people to come up with own KACCand CIDS and policemen to wipe out all evil in this country, only when media which is very accurate in detecting we see now the sleeping men waking up and taking action-shame!

  • I dont think a severe action will be taken a gainst him considering that he'll use the same money to corrupt the investigators. Kenya yetu ni nchi ya ajabu.

  • Cremation is the answer! Leave the wild animals home alone!

Kirui n party of thieves can now have the Christmas party they so craved- in Hell!

  • Too slow.

  • I am sure this is just the first step in fighting corruption. The fact that the thieves have been interdicted means that very soon they will facing the music. Hopefully more rogue ministers, PSs and officials will be shown the door.

  • Is sleeping Kibaki finally waking up?
