If a piece of glass in a picture frame or furniture is wavy or has bubbles, it is a clue to the age of the piece. It's not 100% accurate. Glass and pictures can be easily replaced.

  • I lv the detail on that picture frame.

  • @182125 Thanks, it is a nice detail. Will

  • What do you mean by waves?

  • @ScubaDiverPicker By waves, I mean that if you look at the surface of the glass it will not be perfectly flat like modern glass is today. It looks a little wavy on close inspection. Will

  • my home made in the 1930's. has a wave glass insert in the door, as where all the windows.

nice to know that tho. thx..

  • I also know that the older glass is a lot thinner, in fact the thickness all the way through is not consistant. Another thing is that, if glass were removed from frame, the edges are a lot sharper & rough unlike the polished edges of later glass.

Had a flashback when watching this. When Charles installed the window of the Ingill's home & how Laura was amazed by it. Cheers!

  • To date mirrors you put your finger to the glass and see how thick it is if it's thick it's old and thin it's new
