this is bad, I can see another futuristic holocaust happening because of this, augmented people killing pure humans because we are different, or pure humans killing augments because they are not fully human

You were doing good to 4.33 mate. Science doesn't try to do anything except to try produce solutions in some problem domain. How do you define spirituality? I'm a member of the humanity+ movement and your comments about us aligning ourselves with a movement instead of trying to empower others couldn't be more incorrect the whole point of the humanity+ movement is to empower everyone!

The conspiracy theories are indeed ridiculous, but although I am a transhumanist, I am also a nonsingularitarian simply because I think the singularity is far too good to be true. I expect to live several centuries at least, but I don't think that in 2050 technology will instantly leap forward millions of years. Besides, thinking about it in detail is an exercise in futility, since no one can really imagine the other side of the singularity. Better to imagine a more realistic progression.

Yes, the singularity is indeed borderline intolerably difficult to postulate. But it's still fun! I'm sure you've seen the graphs tracking Moore's Law and Technological development? Technology has been slowly climbing along that graph since the beginning of time. As humans have evolved, so has their technology. You'd be surprised what actually counts as technology. When, where, and how the singularity will occur is all but impossible to project with accuracy, but science is sure it's coming.

The vast majority of humanity today is not completely human. We live in a world where we alter our bodies with medications and occasionally cyborg implants such as artificial hearts and limbs, along with the use of external exobrains such as phones and laptops to augment the capabilities of our minds. By using Google, you externally augment your mind's ability to find information, thus defining you as an ultra-marginal transhumanist. H+ WILL happen, because we're not going to say "enough," ever.
