They are still under Uk government paying uk taxes and thats all that matters in your country. Doesnt matter where you're from as long as they act as proper citizens
-
Regarding your reference to GB giving 1/8 of our country to Pakistan ... If you visit many of our cities and towns we already have.

Loads of our politicians come from the minorities of cyprus ( bigger example the president of the parliament is maronite ) Cyprus is and always will be greek either turks agglophones or anyone else likes it or not. Also the turkishcypriots and everyone else are more than welcome to live under the flag of the Hellenic country named Cyprus as long as they respect the country's heritage.. I hope you enjoy your stay in cyprus and do learn greek while you're here thats a sign of respect as well ;)

1st as a german you must know what is like to live in a country that you dont control... you live in the area that is now called germany for less than 1000 years and you feel so passionate about it so imagine us that we are in cyprus for the last 5000 years.. and there will be no unification until the turks realise that they are a minority in cyprus.. you give away 1/8th of your country to the turks cause they live there or the english to give away half of britain to pakistan.

There will never be unification on island. Cyprus oil is invaluable to leave to Turks or Cypriots. There should always be two poles on the island so to have different approaches to benefit from that oil. That is why US, UK, EU don't give a shit of both sides.

As a German who will move to Cyprus soon (Greek part) because of the low taxes :-) let me just contribute a thing or two to the discussion. We German surely know a thing or two about expulsion, genocide and division. My opinion about the Cyprus conflict is the following:
1. Genocide is a way too big a word for what actually took place. Surely, murders, rapes took place. But i believe from both sides in equal numbers (relatively)
2. Unification won´t happen until the facts and are recognized

I am familiar with the underlying feeling of the Greek Cypriots regarding Northern Cyprus. During my many visits to Cyprus (Favourite destination) occasionally reference to the Turkish sector is sometime made. I can only feel sad that this beautiful island and its friendly generous people has to be divided.
My wife and I love Cyprus and can only wish it well and pray for a little more rain from time to time. See you all again in October 2010.
