Tribute to Mike Rodriguez: From Champion to Maker of Champions (PART 1 OF 2)
In 2007, Mike Rodriguez completed his 50th and final season as a high school wrestling coach, the last 40 years at Detroit Catholic Central.
In that time he's coached three sons, one son-in-law, four grandsons, 16 All-Americans, 26 individual state champions, eight state championship teams (one at River Rouge and seven at Catholic Central) and become the state's winningest wrestling coach with over 730 wins.

Coach Rod is one of the greatest men that I've ever met in my entire life. I was a wrestler for a rival high school of Catholic Central's way back in the 80's. I now have an 8th grade son who also wrestles.
If Coach Rod was still at CC there would be no question that I would entrust the molding of my only son to him. I love Coach Rod...
