This video was produced in partnership with the volunteer 'SNV Counts 2010' Southern Nevada 2010 Census Complete Count Committee and KLVX - Vegas PBS.
It is the second in a five-part series that will highlight the different ways Nevada families will be impacted by the 2010 census.
This particular vignette was strategically planned to be released as the 'Update/Leave' census canvassing effort begins in many rural, outlying areas of Clark County. During the 'Update/Leave' effort, Census Bureau employees will leave a census form at residences that are difficult to reach through the standard census form 'Mail out/Mail back' process.
Many of Clark County's rural, outlying areas are classified by the Census Bureau as 'Update/Leave' areas.
This family's story is intended to convey the unique challenges our rural, outlying communities in Clark County face in achieving a complete count of all residents, the impacts that census participation will have on the quality of life in these areas, and the importance of filling out and returning the census form as soon as it arrives.
