G'day everyone

Here is another Because You Asked video.

Warhammernikki left a comment on my channel asking ...

"viv can you show me how to make the "goop" please mate."

This 'goop' mix is pretty much a mix of various types of ingredients in no specific quantities or mixes of either. Generally using:

- water
- acrylic gap filler/caulking
- PVA glue
- plaster
- your choice of 'texture'

Have fun people!

  • Hey, suppose I made this without adding sawdust or texturiser, would it be suitable to make slimey/oozy textures for decorating? Also, how long does it take to dry?

  • @HollyJFerguson - you could use it for those kind of details, though it does take some time to dry. In my experience, using a hot-glue gun to create oozing puss and slime is MUCH easier.

  • hrmmm, some silicons are oil based which means it will not bond well with the other ' ingredients' ... as long as its an acrylic silicone (which sounds very strange to me) then it should be fine

  • one question: How can you remember what price you bought stuff for 2 years ago? Thats some intense memory!

  • @merkonerko2 - hehe, I have a shocking short-term memory, things just seem to get clearer after time ;)

  • is this the same "goop" you use for your hills and fake rocks?

  • @wasderlike - pretty much, I usually add one type of substance to give me texture for various surfaces - sand, sawdust, gravel etc ....

  • @SkemeKOS look up your butt

I would say crappy first comment! :)

Anyway, I cant seem to find that "plumbers sand" anywhere. Any advice?

  • can i use silicone sealant instead of acrylic gap filler

  • I agree ! Add glue man ! because it's glue ! I even add some glue when baking muffins :p I mean c'mon, it's glue :)

  • Can i use paper mache for that?

  • I find that non-sanded grout works excellent for jobs like this, if it's a thick mixture. Plus you need to put something strong, like epoxy, over it, to keep it from cracking.
