There are apparently 2 tenets to atheism 1. There is no God. 2. I hate him. Gay people haven't been denied any rights civil in America or in the western world. Gays are well tolerated in the west. They can get married just not to someone of the same sex. Gays are killed under Islam in some pretty gruesome ways. Therefore not all faiths are equal. God isn't interested in proving himself to you. If you find any proofs that God exist, to believe in Him wouldn't be faith it will be science.
Nice rant. One thing that's actually not right is the part about black people voting away gay rights. It was actually shown that a good number of black people voted to support gay marriage. If you wanna blame a group of people for Prop 8, it was actually the Mormons that funded and did all the fear-mongering.
in my experience as a christian it is the exact opposite, i am constantly on the defense. because apparently creationists are "close minded" (funny that the girl who said that had to leave the room out of anger as soon as an argument for creationism was voiced), but i do live in Rhode Island lol
The problem with this guy is that he automatically disregards the possibility of the existence of a God based on the absurdity of many religions. Just because religion can be ridiculous, and its stories outrageous does not automatically cross out the possibility of a higher power. Maybe God is an impersonal God that created us and left us to be. To think you have the ABSOLUTE answer is closed minded and mathematically absurd in itself. Atheism is just as ridiculous as Islam - minus the violence.
@WinteRest49 Great! So we can both agree that all belief should be thoroughly assessed and examined not from any egoic or superior standpoint, but basically to see what has real human value. I like to say that any written work holy or otherwise is not alive. We are! Living things are constantly in flux so we should not base ourselves on the inert passages of the past but immerse ourselves in the vital quality of our present moments to deal with challenges fresh and anew.
@Josephjoel3 The trivium is just from medieval libral arts, i.e. grammar, rhetoric, and logic. Most people have faith in something because it works for them. Even so, I agree that we all need to challenge our beliefs in order to grow.
@WinteRest49 The power of the trivium. That is the source of logic and that is why I am not religious and don't affiliate myself with any belief system at all. All belief should be challenged. If something works there is no need to have "faith" in it. It is a tool. If a tool gets broken it is replaced. The traditional tools mankind has been using are broken. . It is time that they be replaced from the foundation. Look up Logic, Fallacies, and the Trivium.
I wonder how many of Condell's useful idiots know that he is a member of UKIP, the extreme right wing party in Britain that not only advocates the complete withdrawal of Britain from the EU, but also a flat tax. It is Britain's version of the US Tea Party. The guy is a failed stand up comedian trying to get attention by other means.
