Disaster Recovery has long been thought of as a complex, scary, and time consuming part of system administration. In the past you had to have identical hardware in both locations as well as a runbook in place that was able to be perfectly executed in order for the entire process to work. Combine this with the fact that you usually only tested these things once or twice a year and most of the time those tests failed miserably, it's no wonder that DR has been a sore point for admins and organizations. Now we have virtualization and one of the coolest things that VMware does is the ability to encapsulate entire systems into a set of files. Combine that with the built in snapshots and replicas of the EqualLogic arrays and now you have a true DR plan.
