  • marin channel,Igrew up in marin and ive noticed no more cali red sided garters?the big fat neon green vibrant red sided ones that resembled the sf garter with triangular heads and some serious girth.what happened?landfill? devlopment?,sur do miss them!

    No, rattlesnakes can strike without being coiled. The second question is a bit harder to answer, but just to be on the safe side you should try to stay 4 5 feet away from any large rattlesnake.

  • Is it true that a rattlesnake must be coiled in order to strike? When a person sees a rattlesnake in the wild, how close can they get to it to observe it safely?
