  • Hannover war cemetery is next to Ahlem or Limmer cemetery now known as Hannover Military Cemetery. It is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for the British Army. You can find info on this by visiting the War graves website cwgc. There is also next to it a Jewish memorial which is not maintained by the war graves.

  • hi stuart, iam going over to the cemetery in hannover next spring to pay respects, did you live in hannover? do you know the bus routes to the cemetery or taxi fares? any help appreciated..jim

  • @ameron20 Hello

I did work in Hannover Cem but came back to England at the end of April 2010.I lived in Wietze near Celle so never got to know Hannover very well.First of all contact The Commonwealth War Graves Commision.cwgc.org they have an office in Maidenhead and an area office for Northern Europe in Ieper(Belgium).

You can get a taxi from Han airport but it would be expensive maybe 50 euros or more. From Han train station you can get a tram to Ahlem and walk from there.

    It is not far.

  • @ameron20

I will try and get you the cem phone number. You can speak to Andreas for help as he speaks perfect English. He is the Head Gardener there.

  • thank you, my brother rest here. i would like to know the music title?

  • Thanks for your comment.I am away from home at the moment but will contact you with details of the album etc when I return later in the week.

  • A man that served along side my own father is burried here - Flying Officer John Reginald BREWER (147935),

    R.A.F.V.R., 600 Sqn.

If there are any family members of Flying Officer Brewer please contact me.

I hope to visit this place soon when I can get the money to travel to Germany. My own father was lucky to live through WW2 - but for all those that did not - Lest We Forget.

  • Such a lovely video. Going here next september for first time to see my Uncle James Millers grave. He was a private in the British Army, his unit 14th Field Survey Squadron. He died in a traffic accident on 18/09/1949 at a youg age of 20 yrs. It's good to see these videos and know they will always be remembered!!
