Kampung Buah Pala - Respite from demolition

The scenes at Kampung Buah Pala on 4th August, 2009 is one filled with a lot of emotions and tension. Police presence is heavy. Demolition crews caused a lot of jitters. Villagers were emotional. Prayers were held, Human barricades comprising women, children and men were set up in an attempt to stop demolition.

However, things cleared up around 11.30 am when Prof. Ramasamy visited the village for the second time that morning and was told by Tamaraj, the Residents Association Secretary that they have a respite till August 18, 2009 because of a court order that does not allow any demolition to takes place.
