5.5lb head, 31" shaft.
Used for splitting out rounds of timber.
Hammer-faced poll.

Some slightly dodgy wood handling, and some quite shonky video editing too ! :-(

  • Just a small hint, from somone who burns wood for most things .. and likes to split it by hand,...Hot water ,central heating...WHY are you hitting the wood 8 inches from the ground???at home my splitting block is 37 inches high, waist level for all you verticaly challenged out there and 24 inches around.....uhhh YES a tree trunk,Difference is I will cut and split 5 ton in a day,STOP buying the expensive toys and start useing sence , Try it monkey boy, it's so much easier ..lol

  • Thanks for the hint and for your concern over wasting money on good tools.

    ;-)

Don't you find that you loose a lot of kinetic advantage from the momentum of the swing tho' - cutting *way* up there - you'd stop the travel far too far into the stroke like that.

Granted, 8 inches is maybe a bit low, but I don't ever cut on more than about 14 to 16 inches.

  • What's the name of the song playing?

  • Hmm, it sounds like it might be a version of 'Wayfaring Stranger', but I can't remember the version. It's been covered by pretty much everyone at some point.

    Rubbish answer I know, sorry.

    :-(

  • awesome mate. just ordered mine. looks easy!! haha

  • @stripymccatpuss I agree, it's also bad for your spine. My splitting block is also waist high. And you don't need that much kinetic force to split logs.

  • @BluetoothsR4Retards Johnny Cash - Wayfaring Stranger, quick response after 1 year

  • @stripymccatpuss how about you stop bein an ass on youtube and let people use the things that they enjoy.

  • @PierreLaCarve1923 im sorry... your from france and you want us to belive your a 'real man' ?

  • nice axe!

  • My friend, with your stance the way it is, one miss and the toe of your axe will remove just that from your foot. Do it like we do in France my friend! Also google my name to check out my videos and see how real men adventure!

  • How do you like the axe? I am interested in them but the lack of head weight concerns me. Don't listen to the critics of splitting techniques. Every situation is different. So,to each his own.

  • Johnny Cash - Wayfaring Stranger

    :-)

  • Nice area,Where is it located?
