I have been crippled for over 3 and a half years from Levaquin. I was a pharmaceutical sales representative too. I know how this industry works. I used to pay doctors lots of money to give presentations on my drugs. Obviously you are being paid a lot of money from Johnson and Johnson. Also, the FDA gets over 50 % of their funding from the pharmaceutical companies.

This Dr. is typical of most Dr's. He obviously has no idea of how toxic and dangerous these drugs really are. I have been crippled by them and personally know of hundreds more that have either had their health ruined or have died from the use of Fluoroquinolones.

It's amazing how ignorant and naive most Dr's are about this problem and the true number of injuries they have caused.

The F.Q. class of antibiotics are sone of the most toxic drugs on earth.

Wow really.. It can break your leg but that's not a big deal? I took Levaquin for 5 days and it's been 8 months and I can barely walk anymore. No tendon rupture, no steroids. Perfectly healthy, the day I took Levaquin I ran a mile. On top of all that I have dry eyes, floaters, tinnitus, POTS and tendon pain in right arm, chornic Knee Pain.

Do not trust this guys opinion. Only take it, if it's life or death situation.

I took three of these fine pills.

Both fingernails and toenails turned black and my right eyes drooped and I could not think and my head felt like it exploded .

Then tore my labrum and rotory cuff, got those repaired then my knees went.

The joints are the small problem with this drug, it is the brain and nerve damage

that should worry you.

I don't know that this guy deserves all of the flak he's getting. He's basically saying "I think the FDA black box labels are warranted to warn doctors not to overprescribe it"

And this is needed, because I had three separate doctors try to give me this shit for minor prostate pain. He's right, this is a drug only for SERIOUS DEEP TISSUE INFECTIONS like severe pneumonia where the risk of permanent damage or death from infection outweighs the quinolone.

As for the odds, or dangers...

I took fluoroquinolones aged 23. No other drugs. No steroids, no nothing.

6 weeks later I thought I was going to die, my brain swelled up. Am now partially blind, have peripheral neuropathy and suffer from mild arthritis and serious tendonitis!!

Over a year ago I took 1 week of a 2 week Rx of Cipro, a fluoroquinolone. I was a very healthy and fit 42 year old and I was not on steroids. I almost immediately developed severe tendon and joint issues and neuropathy. I now must use an electric wheelchair to get around one year after taking these very dangerous drugs. The black box warning was more than justified. The incidence of these side effects is much larger than you think. Please check our facebook page of victims; there are over 1000!
