  • Although I love the fire dancing and appreciate the talent and art that these people have, I must say that there is NOTHING ritual about this. Fire dancing was started in New Zealand by the ancient Maori, not in Mexico or Sweden.....not to mention women were not allowed to do ANYTHING dance with the fire. So call it beautiful, call it spiritual, call it anything BUT ritual because these people are not Pacific islanders.

  • @bellabalue1 Thanks for your comment. "Ritual Fire Dance" is the name of the musical piece by Manuel De Falla, a movement of the ballet "El amor brujo". I am in no way inferring that the performances shown are rituals, but they certainly are fire dancing in the modern sense of the art.
