It looks to me like you've got it down... I'm a huge fan of high contrast drawings, it's almost all I do, and your use of light and where it falls on the figure is killer. Awesome work.

I use Photoshop mostly but there are a lot of good programs out there, I would suggest Sketchbook Pro from Autodesk, it's about 4x cheaper then Photoshop and does everything you need to draw on a tablet/pad.
You can look up Wacom Tablets, some good ones run from anywhere from couple hundred of bucks to couple grand. :)

I used default Photoshop brushes as well ones that came with Wacom Tablet installation disc.
