how about its as simple as i dont want to pay for my news.

The reason people aren't getting their news from papers is because, for some reason or another, new generations have a reading phobia.
If this is where we're going, then maybe the news agencies should consider delivering news through cartoons.

NEWSPAPER GIANTS
Those newspaper giants standing tall with their backs against the wall,
chase the truth, then tell it proud to help their nation live out loud.
The news they share in black and white brings the world into our sight.
The facts of life on Earth they bring so they can help our freedom ring.
A nation silent cannot stand for freedom in this wild land.
Those giants shout from mountainous towers, the news from dawn to evening hours.
-
"Come one and all," their papers say. "Let truth and freedom guide our way.
We have a team so tough and strong that truth can't hide from them for long."
A journalist knows that you must find the facts as rumours make as blind.
Like wise detectives they discover truth that's hiding under cover.
City giants, keep our nation flying in freedom, truth's sensation.
Keep us wise, and keep us strong, in a nation singing freedom's song.

Please. I know "change is good" and all. But millions of people WILL lose their jobs if this happens. Not to mention (and I know this isn't the most original thing in the world, but) the Internet relies on newspapers. It will be scoffed at by ruthless modernizers (just like cigarettes) but there will always be some little town with a kid on his paper route. Some businessman checking out the Times on the subway. And there will always be someone who will stand for what's right

I was in the newspaper advertising business for over 25 years. Newsprint in on the way out. I left the business a year ago.

Newspapers won't die. Just like smug commentators, they will always be around.

internet news--is not reliable------most newspapers are. local news is important.
Dead on commentary about the status of newspapers. But really a commentary on journalism as well. The major news outlets both print and broadcast have moved from reporting to providing opinions. The entire industry is one big op-ed piece.
Internet bloggers and you tube reporting like Wallstrip aret the last hope for real journalism. You reported the facts and that was what journalism used to do.
