By 1960, CBS News didn't know what to do with Bob Trout. He was still widely known and admired from his World War II CBS radio news reports. Trout wanted to switch to television, but CBS had Doug Edwards anchoring the Evening News and Walter Cronkite for live coverage and prime time news shows. So CBS stuck him on their local New York newscasts.
