0_0 are you slow the machines came from the U.K , the americans are the only ones who are confused. I know it's your opinion but if you wern't born yesterday then you might use your common sense to figure out what this big box is here in front of you. Maybe read what it says on the front of it. You never know what kind of useful information youll find on it. Like maybe some clues to the fact that it's a parking meter.
I was visiting the city this past Thursday (I'm from Pittsburgh) and I recieved a $75 ticket for parking in a "Tow Away Zone". On the left side of the sign it had hours of parking and on the right it said To Away, so I figured that as long as I was within the times on the left I was good. The sign is perpendicular to the curb, NOT parallel. If it was parallel, I would of clearly understood that the left side applied to the spot in front, and the tow away to the spot where I was. UGH!
Yes, as an out of towner looking for parking, I would be confused. The city should add a sign on the old meter poles reading pay for parking at the Kiosk.
It's simple just go to somewhere that provides better, or free parking. Say out of the city of Philadelphia. They will get the message. sooner or later.
we got the same thing in downtown Chicago & some of the neighborhoods. oh well thats the only thing Philly has in common with Chicago cause we're the world's greatest city with the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks! too bad Philly maybe next century. LOL! CHI-CITY BABY!!!

people from foreign countries are already using these (Europeans) - no it doesn't make it less confusing though :-)
