Controversy over Sexual Advances by One Party Official

And now we have a story for you thats causing quite a stir on the Chinese blogosphere. Its a story of how a waitress in Hubei Province stabbed a local official to death after he made unwanted sexual advances towards her. Heres a look at the controversy.
According to a report by the Epoch Times newspaper three local Party officials went to an illicit entertainment venue after a night of dining and drinking. When they got there business promotion official Deng Guida requested "special services" from waitress Deng Yujiao, but was turned down.

Official Deng Guida hit waitress Deng Yujiao's head with a stack of bills and said, Dont doubt that we dont have enough money (for the special service). He then pushed her down on a couch. When Yujiao was unable to free herself, she stabbed Guida several times with a fruit knife. Deng Guida died on the way to the hospital.

Many Chinese bloggers have expressed their sympathy and support of the waitress.

"Now all the people are supporting her and granting her titles like 'heroic woman' or 'a lady moving the whole of China in 2009' and so on. These are praises towards her from Chinese society because it touched every Chinese person's feeling of being persecuted or repressed."

Communist Chinas state run media have focused their reports on the mental health of waitress Deng Yujiao, rather than the forceful conduct of Party official Deng Guida.

"I think that the police just want her to become mentally ill. I don't know why they're doing this to her."

Currently Ms. Deng is detained by the police at Youfu mental hospital in Enshi County. Her mental health test results have yet to be released.
