  • "I am quite distressed the experiment has fallen short of expectation"...This is marvelous. For 40+ years, it's been a maddening hunt, trying to figure out the title and whereabouts of this gem, & here it is. As a kid, I saw it but once on late night TV, and the perfectly captured Vernesque imagery has stayed with me since. This is the stuff that feeds the wonder & machinations of impressionable young boys with overactive imaginations. Thank you so much for checking one item off my bucket list!

  • @evilbecauseyouwantme They nailed the look of the NAUTILUS as described, and i like the way they made the actual sets look "drawn" like the backgrounds.

  • the music starting at 9:36 is most Mysterious.

  • visually this is jules verne's world as i've always pictured it to be.

  • inventions of the industrial revolution-the train, the steamboat, submarines&diving suits, flying machines seemed like sci-fi to ppl like jules verne+h.g. welles. this "mysti-mation" beautifully gives off the sensibility of the pagebook wonder &fantasy of verne.the costumes r designed in a way that gels w/the the drawn backgrounds(which look like detailed rapidograph drawings or engraving prints).the story+dubbing to english seem hokey though.wish they spoke in the orig. czech language!
