I will play this game :)

interesting. thanks for the insight

The game doesn't really go into much detail about it, just that "things" as in items are scarce and mostly come from people from the outside who either fell in, were tossed in, or went inside willingly in search of the king's legendary treasure.
There's infinite healing water springs and stuff like that but it doesn't go into much detail on how/if they eat. Some people must have been there for hundreds of years though since one woman begs Ares/Varik (main char) to stay with her (suggestively)

@ssfsx17 though this raises a good point.

@GiantPotato I see
-
From what I understand playing the original SNES game they're all people who fell in fell in and time supposedly is somewhat "frozen" inside so they're effectively immortal as long as they aren't murdered by something or someone.
-
And where do they get infinite store supplies from? And how do they eat? And why haven't the monsters killed them?
-
Whats the story behind people living in these mazes?
-
Does anyone know how to get the Warp magic in the first Ruins area? I can't seem to find it...
-
If this comes out in America, I;d finally have a reason to get a PSP...
What are those bags of mini canon balls, or iron ballls or whatever, that you can get from the weapon vendors?

should be placed in quick select
they are for checking the ground for pitfalls.
if u suspect a pitfall use and itll reveal the hole reducing ur item count by one.
if theres no hole the item doesnt get consumed of course.

Ah that would have been reeeeaaallly helpful for a certain floor in the Ruins. Instead whenever I dropped down the pit to the lower floor, there were rocks on any square with a pit above, so I mapped it out Etrian Odyssey style, which was still fun actually.
