  • As of October, PicoDrive runs a lot better, and has a fix for "screen tearing". That's the nice thing about these open consoles; The community keeps developing and improving the emulators and coming up with new ways to do things.

I love my Wiz. The potential is amazing. When it came out, there was no PSX emu, and now they're getting better at PSX. It won't be long before someone gets N64 on it.

Everything else runs great! Amiga, C64, NES, SNES, MD, TG, MAME, NeoGeo, GBA, etc. all work well.

  • I have Wiz and PSP, and I mus say, that gaming is much better on PSP. Wiz does not have "sleep" feature, whet I turn off PSP and then I turn it on, it wake up and I can continue in gaming. After I turn off Wiz, after turn on Wiz start booting and launch menu...

  • Awesome !

What about the screen tearing issues that I've been hearing about ? Are they apparent from your testing ?

  • Yes. In several discussion forums appeared first experience of some owners and developers, who complained to the so-called "screen tearing". AMOLED display, which the manufacturer, was originally designed for use at altitude, which corresponds to its framebuffer. In its application to the width occurs in some situations, whereas in refresh display first refresh part of the diagonal, and then under the section. It is a matter of milliseconds, but it shows as a small tearing.

  • I noticed that in some games in PicoDrive or MAME4ALL, where it was a faster scrolling (for example game Aladdin). The manufacturer knows it, and he response by message, that if the producers of games / applications for the GP2X Wiz wants to avoid, they should use the rendering using OpenGLES. It is necessary to rewrite program code. But "Screen tearing" is not any major problem, or maybe it do not, it certainly is not a problem of all games / applications.

  • This emulator runs now just perfect. The true potential of the wiz isn´t yet reached.

  • the wiz costs $150 and the psp3000 is $170. so your right it is cheaper, I just don't think $20 is enough to sway most peoples opinions.

  • i thought this one was cheaper then the psp

  • they cost about the same. I dont know what your talking about.

  • @czdjax well the price is a big difference for some us with few $

  • Can you reconfigure the controls? I think activating BLOCK with the shoulder buttons would help.

  • are te controls good with fighting games. Didn't look too good. Or is that just your playing?
