New York City wanderings with a 5D Mark II

Took my 5D Mark II into the city on Dec. 30 to see what kind of HD video I could shoot. Not too bad, though I can see some of the limitations of shooting hand-held and using the on-board microphone. Check it out!

Yeah, each file is full 1920x1080 30p HD.

is it true that you cant film longer than 15 minutes?

File size tops out at 4 gigabytes, which works out to about 12 minutes of HD video. You can shoot multiple files on the same card, so on an 8 gig card you can get 24 minutes. For most things, I can work within the limits.

Wow, do 5Ds record in AVCHD? If they did, you'd get at least 40 minutes from 8gb (Ultra-high, 24mbps quality).

Nope, it records in H.264.

Could you let us know what lenses did you used ?

No problem - I used all Canon lenses - 16-35 2.8L II, 70-200 2.8L IS, and the 50mm 1.4.

Is there anyway you could please upload the full resolution version for download since youtube only goes up to 720p. I'm thinking about buying that camera and I wanted some real world video footage.
