As the protest movement spills out from the US and takes over the world, one award-winning director cuts the long story down to a short film, highlighting the double standards of US leaders.
"I'm Not Moving" is a brilliant title for this seven-minute edit of speeches by President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- and protests across the US and in countries like Egypt and Libya. The short film shows both the unmoving position of US authorities when it comes to domestic matters, and the hypocrisy people in the US and all over the world are trying to fight. Director Corey Ogilvie says his main goal was to showcase one constant between these seemingly different events.
"If you watch the film," Ogilvie told RT, "you will see there's some shots, for example, in Egypt, the horses rode through the protesters and tried to suppress the protests. The exact same thing happened at the G20. Shot for shot, it was identical. If you look at the suppression of journalists in Egypt and Syria, shot for shot it is identical. So this film isn't comparing the demands. What this film is doing is comparing the repression."
The film -- like the protest movement -- has gone viral. In a worldwide bid for change, thousands upon thousands will take to the streets in Europe, Asia and the Americas. The "October 15 united for #globalchange" movement will be seen and heard in over 950 cities worldwide. 82 countries are on the list, preparing for one of the largest global rallies in years. It is the magnitude of the movement that is gathering attention from the likes of Corey Ogilvie.
"What inspired me", the director said, "is the amount of people that are capturing every moment of this event."
The movement has certainly been gaining momentum. What started out as a simple "Occupy Wall Street" rally in New York turned into a weeks-long national outrage -- and quickly spread overseas. The people, angry with what they see as politics and policies benefiting the few, call themselves the "99 percent" -- and they are demanding change. Ogilvie says that if the leaders don't listen, this movement could easily become a revolution.
"The people will only take so much," he said. "That's the central message: you can only push them down for so long."

Dear .. They have made their people believe that the Arabs are less humane than the rest of the people .. they have always taught them that they are stupid and can not not be on as well .. They have convinced their people that the billion and a half billion Muslims, they are stupid to embrace religion which calls for terrorism .. War Business .. Experience new weapons .. Obtaining oil .. this is the real business

  • I feel very passionate about this subject and support the Occupy Movement whole heartedly. My prayer is that the NWO will not capitalize on the movement to bring about their agenda - using it as an excuse to bring about world wide "peace" and control.

You bet they won't. Why do people protest and protest, when almost all of their efforts don't change a thing and they get to disrupt the orderly running of society in the midst?

Opt for peace and peaceful control, not protests and wars, thanks.

  • The U.S. government supports the rallies in other countries, bearing the proud flag of "democracy." But in his own country policy do not think so.

  • @fargonbastedge

Search for Arab scientists in the West .. And will know that what we have is not a problem at the level of intelligence .. But we have problems in education, health and poverty ... We have problems in the freedoms .. As you can see our problems started to finish .. The only way is peace in order to get up.. Let us live in peace .. We did not come to you the war .. we already do not have weapons we fight with

  • @fargonbastedge

first of all we did not build weapons ,, we did not make a Crusades.. Muhammed did not kill any body and we do not have any order to kill .. we have a order to fight back and do not start a fight .. also we have a prophecies on war not an orders and it is happening .. and arabs are not dumb .. We ruld the world for more than thousand year while the Europeans peoples were so dumb and Barbarians .. and for this Lying lots of your peoples converts to islam every year..

  • @speedx1x Meant to say "The arabs have an average IQ of only 85".

  • @speedx1x Nah, thats actually true. The Arabs are dumb and no its not "a bad stereotype" either.

The arabs have an average of only 85, an illeracy rate of 53% (at-least in Egypt), and follow a 7th century social and political order.

Also Islam is violent. Muhammad himself killed thousands in wars he started, it says in the Koran 108 times to kill non-muslims only because of there beliefs. Plus he raped a 9 year old named Aisha. So yes it is violent.

I hope this clears up your ignorance.

  • Dont think so. I think ti'll end up like Spain. Little change.

  • @Jangaboo

The United States supported Mubarak's regime with weapons and tools .. Egyptian Revolution did not have a leader .. If they have a leader, Mubarak was to kill him and ended up .. At the time of the revolution, we did not know what urges in other cities because, quite simply, there were not means of communication .. There was no TV but state television .. We did not have the Internet .. How do you think that the United States or other will help us?? We were alone, moving randomly ..
