It's easiest to grab the stuff right around the Core if you do it before grabbing the last Broken Heart.

Also, this video shows the locations of the objects you have to grab before Mu appears. They are not random. To pick up the Emblem, you have to be at least 689 Cosmos, and Mu won't appear until you get the Emblem.
