  • Hwaet! Leornungcwen matholode, wordhord unlaec! (Loosely translated, "Listen up! The female scholar spoke, unlockd her word-hoard!) As a lapsed Anglo-Saxon scholar, author of a humongous unpublished dissertation on Beowulf translation, I am filled with admiration for your creative "dynamic equivalence" translation.

  • @pjalama Thank you! That's just about as good as it gets! I think I'll post your lovely comment on our FB fan page. I'm glad esteemed academics such as you "get it". :)

  • History major at texas state. I want to grow up to be you.

  • @bloodoftheages Cool- thanks :)

  • This was your first video I ever saw. I was looking for the original Nena. Got this instead. I thought: Oh! Look! Some cute little 20 yr old teeny bopper, with a computer & a camera, has tried to imitate Superstar Nena & take on Beowulf. Hah- I thought: This mess will be good for a laugh! How wrong I was... My apologies. Been eating cake ever since. Good cake! Lesson: Don't judge books by their cover, I guess. Took me this long to own up to it. Thanks!

  • @PierreaSweedieCat Who would have thought? Thanks for sticking through it and liking it! And more thanks for thinking I look half my age!

  • Probably appropriate that this is a German song.

  • This is great - just sat working out how to get some bright year 7s into Beowulf and there you are, my knight in shining armour! ;-)

  • Love this! My teacher showed me this video and a few others.

  • If I would have watched this, I might've actually liked Beowulf. Keep up the good work!

  • @historyteachers There is no way you are 40....

  • This is my new favorite song ever. We watched this in my English class.

  • Amazing video. I was so addicted to this during 9th grade. I listened to it all the time in History class. Now I'm in 10th grade but still listening. :)

  • Nice song. I own the movie and reading the translated story. The movie is awsome. Have you ever seen it.

  • @tobydadog10 the terrible graphics are what make "everything's drawn and super 80s", to quote the literal version of "Take On Me".

  • Good and hilarious sorry but I laughed my a*s off are the graphics really supposed to be that horrible
