Brokeback Flashback

The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man. This paragraph took forever to get right, and I played Charlie Haden's and Pat Metheny's Spiritual, from their album Beyond the Missouri Sky (short stories) uncountable times, trying to get the words. I was trying to write the inchoate feelings of Jack and Ennis, the sad impossibility of their liaison, which for me was expressed in that music. To this day, I cannot hear that track without Jack and Ennis appearing before me. Annie Proulx.

Having seen this before, I revisited this video just now at Planet Heath Ledger on the BBM thread. And came here right after I finished. This is a holy experience, a sacred experience for me. Heath and Jake ~ just wonderful. Heath for me made/makes the world a better place. Sadly miss him while being grateful to be on the planet when he was....even though briefly.

this is one of favorite scenes from brokeback mountain, that warm, beautiful, loving embrace between jack and ennis, brokeback mountain is a wonderful movie and i love your video, the music and the slow motion, it was just great

Note the difference in jack's eyes when he's watching Ennis go in the flashback when he's young to the look in his eyes when he's older. You can see the contrast in feelings.
